TRY THE TEST

Tonight 10 of us went to downtown Springfield, Missouri around the Park Central Square area to pass out gospel tracts, street witness and open air preach.  It was 31 degrees.  There were quite a few people around on the sidewalks to pass out tracts to, but hardly anyone was in the square area.

When we arrived and gathered around, there were two gentlemen that walked up to us.  They were alcoholics.  They asked if they could pray with us as we prayed.  They stayed during the prayer, then asked if they could pass out some of our gospel tracts.  We gave them some and they took off to pass them out.  Praise God.

We passed out approx. 300-350 gospel tracts.  Michael and Greg had a good conversation, taking Andrew, Hannah, Aaron and Deryk through the Good Person Test.  They said they would be guilty on the Day of Judgment, so they told them about the grace available through Jesus Christ.

We went to Park Central Square to open air preach.  There were only a few people walking around.  People would stop sometimes and others would listen around the outskirt areas.  Laci, who was with us, decided to be the volunteer to answer my questions in the open air preaching.  We have a portable microphone/speaker that projects the sound all over the place.  It is awesome.

If you are aware of using the Way of the Master biblical evangelism principles, you know what questions we asked next, using the Ten Commandments (God's Law) to bring conviction.  Have you ever told a lie?  What does that make you...a liar.  Have you ever stolen anything?  What does that make you...a thief.  Have you ever used God's name in vain...that is called blasphemy.  Have you ever looked with lust?  If so, you have committed adultery in your heart.

If they answer yes to those questions, they admitted to be a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer-at-heart.  The Bible says that all liars will have their part in the Lake of Fire.  No thief or no adulterer will enter into the Kingdom of God, and that the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.

You ask the person, "when you die and stand before God on the Day of Judgement, will you be innocent or guilty of breaking God's Law".  If they say, "guilty", then say, "Will you go to heaven or hell?"  If they say hell, ask if they know what God did for them so that they don't have to go to hell.  Jesus Christ came to this earth to live a sinless life so that he could take our punishment for deserving hell upon himself.  We broke God's Law and Jesus paid our fine.

We must repent and trust in Christ to be born-again.  The Bible says that God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.  Repent means not only ask forgiveness, but to turn from your sin.  To trust in Christ is to believe in him.  For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

We thank God for bringing these people into our paths tonight.  We pray that each person that received a tract or heard the gospel message will become convicted by their conscience and the Holy Spirit and will come to the Lord to repent and trust in Christ to be born again.
