The Bible clearly teaches that it is healthy to examine yourself to see if you are in the faith. 

II Corinthians 13:5 
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.  Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you - unless, of course, you fail the test?

Matthew 7:22-23
Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?"  And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!"

II Peter 1:10
Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble.

Read God's Word DAILY

Read your Bible every day...without fail.  Every day.  Esteem the Word of God as more important than your daily food (see Psalm One).  Say to yourself, "No Bible, no breakfast...No read, no feed."
