My church, Christian Ministries Church of Southwest Missouri, is a loving church. My pastor, Pastor Ashley Ellison, appointed me the Evangelism Director at the church in December 2009. He has a heart for the lost and believes in various ways to reach the unsaved, including street witnessing. This is saying a lot, as many pastors now days feel that this form of witnessing is too confrontational - although it is very Biblical.
The church members already participate in outreaches such as going to parades and passing out gospel tracts, etc. However, Pastor Ashley and I discussed having an evangelism ministry where all team members are well trained in street witnessing and how to handle the more confrontational type events such as downtown street witnessing and concerts, etc.
I originally came up with the "SWAT TEAM" witnessing team for my ministry (Street Witnessing And Training - Taking Evangelism Across Missouri). I tweaked it to make it the ministry of the church and created the logo above. Pastor Ashley approved it and is behind us with his support.

Mission Statement
The S.W.A.T. Team’s mission is to SEEK and SAVE the lost. To WIN SOULS to the Lord. We do this by going to public places such as parades, town squares, parks and festivals. To those waiting in line at concerts and sporting events. We go anywhere the lost can be found, for the express purpose of PLANTING and WATERING the seed of the gospel into their lives. We do this primarily by passing out gospel tracts and by witnessing one to one.
We do this out of love for God and love for people. Our wish is that no one goes to hell. We do this because as Christians, we are commanded to “GO into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15.
“For the Son of Man came to SEEK and to SAVE what was lost.” Luke 19:10
“he who WINS SOULS is wise.” Proverbs 11:30
I PLANTED, Apollos WATERED, but God gave the increase. I Corinthians 3:6

S.W.A.T. Team
The world has a S.W.A.T. Team that stands for “Special Weapons And Tactics”. Our team stands for “Street Witnessing And Training”. Our team has special weapons and tactics. They are in place to assist us to GO out and SEEK the lost, to RESCUE them from Satan’s grip, so that they may be SAVED. The S.W.A.T. Team is utilized for a variety of missions due to their versatility, skill and training. This is a team of Christians who have had specialized training in various aspects of street witnessing.
Our Weapons:
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-4
The Word of God
